Browser Choices

September 18, 2023

I have always found that having different browsers installed on my computers to be useful for the following reasons:

  1. Security: While most modern browsers are secure, having an alternative browser can be helpful if one of them encounters security vulnerabilities. You can switch to a different browser temporarily until the issue is resolved.
  2. Features and Customization: Different browsers offer unique features and customization options. You can choose the browser that best suits your preferences for speed, privacy, extensions, and user interface.
  3. Separate Profiles: Some users prefer to use different browsers for different purposes, such as one for work-related tasks and another for personal use. This can help keep your browsing activities separate.
  4. Backup: If your primary browser experiences a problem or becomes corrupted, having a backup browser installed can ensure that you can still access the internet while resolving the issue with your primary browser.
  5. Privacy and Security: Some users use one browser for regular browsing and another for more privacy-focused activities, such as online banking or accessing sensitive information, to minimize the risk of tracking and data exposure.
  6. Ability to Block Annoying Adverts: this advantage rates very highly !

The following browsers are popular:

  1. Google Chrome
  2. Mozilla Firefox
  3. Apple Safari
  4. Microsoft Edge
  5. Duck Duck Go – offers to help people protect their privacy online. Best part is being able to view utube videos without the adverts if viewed through their portal – eureka!
