Saturday Sounds: 23rd November 2024

November 23, 2024

This weekend marks the last match for most of us; Ireland has one more game against Australia next weekend and then all thoughts of internationals will move forward to the 6Nations in 2025.

It’s definitely been an interesting series, which, to me has highlighted the importance of teams and believing in each other; from our win last weekend to the delight of underdogs Australia winning at Twickenham.

As a business owner, sometimes it’s hard to believe in ourselves for a variety of reasons ranging from our upbringing to not getting any confirmation from those around us; this is particularly the case if you are just starting up.

Most of us setting up in business have a passion and skills we have acquired prior to taking their step to go it alone and this is who we are. Not everyone is going to resonate with this and that’s OK, so you may meet a few who don’t get or need what you have to offer, but please never see that as a reflection on your business.

Sadly our ecomomic climate means more of us never even get to touch that pound we earn before it leaves our bank account to pay all the bills, so it may just be that we can’t afford what you have despite the fact that we would value and potentially benefit from it.

Just as a rugby player has a responsibility to the rest of his team mates, I believe that by supporting each other, we build a stronger team as SMEs. What we can do is collaborate together as we do on this community and be there for each other when needed. Your sales may be slow, so instead of sitting there waiting for the phone to ring, why not reach out to someone who needs help ?

It keeps your mind active and while there are a number of takers in life, I would hope that people will return that favour to someone else. We have a Small Business group on here which is managed by Darren who is the area Membership Advisor for the FSB. Reach out and ask for advice or offer your help to others 🙂
