Saturday Sounds: 28 December 2024

December 28, 2024

This will be our last official “Saturday Sounds” for the year so here are some overall thoughts for 2024:

  1. Never Judge A Book By Its Cover
When you meet someone in a network group, it’s always worth connecting for a chat. You don’t know who they know and if they made an effort to say something to you, then take that on board. Because of a simple “we should have a chat, my father was an ex RN, I got to connect with one of those rare people; someone who not only talks the talk, but he walks the walk also. Out initial half an hour ended up being at leat three hours I think. It’s been like walking down memory lane with Charl’eau as I now call him (to distinguish between him and another Charles and avoid any confusion!).
  2. Listen to Your Gut
We meet a lot of people networking and sometimes after a 1-2-1, you just get a sense that you not only understand each other on a deeper level, but you jut know it’s worth connecting them to other people in your network. Here’s hoping that things work out in the new year for potential connections in this area
  3. There is Always Someone Whose Cause Truly Resonates
For me, this year, this has to be Ellen Roome, someone who I’ve only met recently. I’ve written about Ellen in previous journal posts, and we are hoping to be able to help her in the months to come as she continues to campaign for a cause that any parent will empathise with and want to support where they can.
  4. Rugby Mates Are Precious
I’ve been truly spoilt this year, from the giggles in group chat to the best of times with the guys. From watching a certain young man play his first match after a period away to the pool party in June, it’s been the best of times. The Athenee was the icing on my birthcake and I loved the dress and diamonds, amazing to feel like a princess for an evening!
  5. Never Ignore a Deep ConnectionWhen you consistently emapthise with and sense someone in ways that can’t be explained by logic, it hints at a deeper emotional, energetic, or subconscious connection, but can feel really strange, especially if one of you hasn’t experienced it before.I can’t explain how I could sense something was wrong the day you went into hospital any more that I can explain how I can look at my mobile a few seconds before you message.Separately things makes more sense now you’ve explained things last week; as I said, it took courage and I hope we grow stronger because of your willingness to be vulnerable. This track is for you Pooh Bear – some parts are a bit OTT, but you are special and rare and I am grateful to have met you mon doudou.
