So does a time come when we need to revisit the lists of dreams that’s been in our back pocket and see what is realistic given our present circumstances, location, health and financial circumstances?
It’s not about being anxious, but also perhaps a self realisation moment which can also add new dreams too, so let’s not think of it as negative. Its just readjusting the map co-ordinates, sometimes only as a little detour before we head back onto the main room, but there is always time to recall those old and perhaps long forgotten locations and see if we need to buy a new map.
I shelved my dream of being an astronaut many a moon ago, guess being a helium head was about as high as I wanted to go work wise. That and the recognition that feeling sick on the local annual fair’s teacups ride wasn’t going to get me much past any initiation day if I even made the height cut – don’t think they allow astronauts to wear 10cm heels in order to reach controls !
I can remember my father telling me he wanted to be a train driver when he was a boy; he got his drive of driving for sure, but in the form of radically changing how children were taught at schools, as well as introducing comprehensive education in Malaysia which then became a role model for the UK in the early 1960s.
I was talking with a music teacher today which brought back memories of the lovely Erard grand piano we had in France; maybe it’s time to just close the lid on this dream because it needs a room large enough to warrant such a purchase. Now as for an upright, I’m looking at just the right spot… 🙂
What dreams have you had since your childhood?
