Today’s song belongs to Robbie, a former “local boy” who made good back in the 90; it started to play on the radio as I pulled into my driveway this morning:

I don’t wanna dieBut I ain’t keen on living eitherBefore I fall in loveI’m preparing to leave herI scare myself to deathThat’s why I keep on running

(Copyright: Robbie Williams)

Those of us who like his music have no doubt sung along with these lyrics, but it wasn’t until i watched the Netflix documentary that their true meaning became apparent. We all knew via the press as well as watching interviews that he was going through some bad periods in his life, but I never quite understood the depth of his “black moments” where he struggled to even get himself on stage to perform. The voices in his head telling him he wasn’t good enough and just a fake… this from someone whose vocal talents, in my opinion, a  re up there with the greatest.

Other points his early rise to fame and fortune brought up were being a loner and having to deal with a vast number of people around him and yet not knowing who he could trust, both as a performer as well as personally.

Trust is a big issue in our life, especially for those who have been hurt in the past, but as I was trying to explain to someone last week, don’t let the fact that your ex cheated on you affect how you are as a person with others.  If you do, then you are allowing the ex to continue to affect your future although they are in your past. By all means, when the time is right, explain to a potential partner what has happened in the past, because these insecurities are often hard to repress all the time.

Surround yourself with people who truly want the best for you too and it doesn’t matter if they are someone you’ve never even met. The old adage about keeping good news quiet is also a good thing to remember; not everyone likes those around them to succeed !
