I seem to have a lot of friends who are able to recall and quote lines from films or TV programmes which they have seen and it does make me wonder why I can’t.
i know some people love a movie so much, they watch it several times and in so doing are more likely to remember specific sections of dialogue. Then we have the ones who have other friends who also love films so that they speak about the ones they all enjoy and then start to quote sections which again helps to commit the lines to memory (a bit like learning lines for a school play!).
Maybe somewhere along the line (probably from about 2005-2012), I either learnt to deliberately forget things were going on in my life which included films and/or did not have the time to make the effort to remember them because there was so much else going on.
I love people reminding me of lines from fun movies and TV series such as “Fools and Horses” (yes, such a classic!); it reminds me of times when people could write comedy rather than relying on the shock factor. And more importantly, it allows them to feel good for having made others laugh with their recollections and delivery and that’s got to be a good thing!
