Saturday Sounds: 21st September 2024

September 21, 2024

This one’s for my South African mate PS who is getting up at stupid o’clock tomorrow morning to meet with 6 or 7 others from his running club. They are going to do a 10k “League Run”, but to spice things up, they are adding a pre-race warm up of 10k from their meeting point to the race start itself. Then when the race is over they are going to run back to their respective cars, 14k away.

So by the end of the day, he will have run 34k minimum… and all this in preparation for the Cape Town marathon on 20th October. This will be his first big race, something he’s been prepping for the past 18 months minimum to my recollection.

I am not sure how long all this will take him but it’s going to be a long day for sure, because he’s going to be staying up to watch the Boks play v Argentine in the final stage of the Rugby Championship, a match where we all expect Eben Elsebeth to equal Victor Matfield’s record of 126 caps for his country. Injuries aside, all will be set for Eben to then take the record for the most caps the following week when the Argentine team fly to South Africa for the final match of the tournament.

Wishing everyone a good weekend and best of luck to PS and his club mates for the race !!
