As a small business owner, we can sometimes find ourself thinking “what am I doing?” “should I just go and get a normal job” or worse, hear a comment from a friend which stems from their own life working for other businesses.

What motivates people to start their own business?
From the many people I’ve spoken to over the years, it normally stems from something personal we have experienced and thought of a potential solution; from an App for recruitment companies which manages their sub contract staff hours and invoicing to someone who trains women footballers after they had to curtail their evolution as an elite athlete after a career ending injury.

Yes It’s Scary !
Some entrepreneurs have the luxury of having a partner or some other means of taking the financial pressures off themselves so that they can focus on developing the business without the worry of having to think of paying for the gas and electric that month; others are not so lucky and yet they have decided to go solo.

In order to grow this community, I’ve had to take the leap of faith; “If you build it, they will come” style. A grateful thanks to all who have supported us along so far; from Chris who built and maintains the community to those who have started up a group, offered suggestions and kindly referred me to people who have given me advice on a whole variety of things. I’m a relative newbie to the charity world and getting advice from people who have, like us, started from nothing other than a drive to try and make a difference to those in need.

If you have a passion, don’t give up …

PS. What has been nice is the positive comments people have made about our objectives; for any veteran reading this, please know how much your service means to others. You are not forgotten and we care.
