A blast from my clubbing days; so much to do today so I will need to get my skates on and be organised.
Another party to enjoy, waving “a bientot” to a former neighbour as she is returning to her USA home for the winter months. Not sure who else is going to be there that I may recognise but I will be popping in to give her a hug. Another piece of good news is that my neighbour has taken delivery of a new fire pit; he messaged our WhatsApp group yesterday. This meanss that I can finally get round to burning the other two bags full of paperwork that has been lurking in the hall and blocking my access to the cupboard under the stairs where I keep the carpet washer (yes another job that needs doing).
But back to where I live now and the friendship group that has developed over the past four years. It mainly started after Covid when we were allowed to meet two other people. I suggested we have a Gin sundowner evening outside and as the three of us were sitting there, a few other people stopped to talk. This became almost a regular Friday event and as the laws relaxed, a few others joined us; we now don’t have these as often as before (recent weather hasn’t helped!) but the group has grown to over 20 of us, with a few dogs and cats joining in !
The original core group have been a godsend to me, they have made cups of tea when needed, we have meals together and board game nights are always fun. They tolerate my front garden weeds and always take deliveries if I am out, as I do for them. It’s reassuring to know you have someone to turn to, not only when you need to borrow a cordless drill, but also for those impromptu moments : “I’ve just opened a bottle of wine, does anyone fance a glass ?”.
When I hear stories of the nightmares some people have with their neighbours, especially the ones who seem to have nothing else to do other than criticise, I thank the stars that I ended up here.
So this one is for my “Fabulous Foursome” group; thank you for being there, the laughs and support.
🙂
